Untold Stories

We explored the themes of joy and grief with the elder residents of the Watershed facility through a series of workshops where they got to express their emotions and experiences using various art forms.

It culminated in an exhibition co-curated with the residents, showcasing the artwork they created in the process.

Facilitators: Adela Cardona, Domenic Toliver, and Gwendolyn Hoeffgen.

After being invited by PSU’s Master's in Social Work to be artists in charge of doing the workshops around joy and grief, we spent months getting to know the residents of Watershed: going to bingo, seated yoga, and having conversations.

After that, we designed 4 workshops that would allow Barbara, Julia, Michael, Pati, and Bernadine to work through their grief, tap into joy, and, most importantly, connect with each other.
